Story
In September 2019 and at the age of 44 I was diagnosed with aggressive Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Luckily I was very vigilant and found the lump when it was quite small so my early diagnosis meant that the cancer had not spread but the tests also found a much bigger area of pre cancerous cells that we also need to sort out!!! I am extremely lucky to have a fantastic support network around me and this includes my husband Geoff and son Morgan and the other wonderful members of my Race for Life team. We are all friends from our son’s footy team Highworth Town Junior Football Club H Under 12’s and I am so blessed that we are all doing this together with our boys and other siblings to raise money for this amazing cause. I consider myself one of the lucky ones as my cancer team have been incredible but Triple Negative Breast Cancer does not have the treatment options like other breast cancers and only 20% of those diagnosed with breast cancer are Triple Negative with prognosis percentages lower than those with hormone receptive breast cancer. It is also more often younger women under 45 that are diagnosed with triple negative or those with the BRCA gene mutation. I am hoping that the money raises can support the research into finding more treatment options for Triple Negative Breast Cancer and the other types of cancers out there that don’t have as many treatment options in the hope that every person diagnosed regardless of the type of cancer has a hope of a cure. Thank you for helping us xx Cheza xxxxxxx
