When I was 23, my mum was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal brain cancer. It is not possible to describe the heartbreak and impact that had on my family. When I was 33, after a short illness, my Dad received a late diagnosis of cancer. He died four days after his cancer diagnosis in hospital and again the devastation and heartbreak is hard to convey. 1 in 2 people in the UK get cancer. CRUK is dedicated to improving the patient pathway from prevention, diagnosis, through to treatment. CRUK not only funds scientific research into possible cures, CRUK actually manufactures, formulates and develops cancer therapies in its own facilities. This is why I am raising funds for CRUK. To honour my parents and I’m also having a lot of fun running with my running team along the way. So please sponsor us and support a really worthwhile charity." Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work.
