As a family we are very aware of, and thankful for, screening!! For the past 15 years or so Mum, Jenny and I have taken part in the Race for Life every year to raise awareness of cancer and the importance of attending regular screening appointments. Dad and Dave drive us there and cheer us on. Dave also ran with me in the last one when they opened the event up so that men could join in too. On the 2nd March this year I received a breast cancer diagnosis which had been detected through a routine mammogram. I am very lucky that it was caught early. I had it removed on 26th March and I’m recovering well. I had radiotherapy in June and will be on medication for at least the next 5 years. I fully intend to take part with Jenny in this year’s Race for Life on 5th Sept - I’d like to be able to run it, but will walk it if I have to. I would love to see you there cheering us on or even taking part too and enjoying an hour of fresh air Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life to raise money and save lives. Please please please attend your screening appointments and check your bits for lumps and bumps - get them checked!!! 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
