Story
We are The Vodka Chasers, two girls and a very stylish Italian Greyhound, hoping to raise some money in the memory of family and friends who have been affected by cancer. Anyone that knows us, knows we're more comfortable with a glass of fizz or an ice cold vodka, so running is no mean feat. Having both been affected by the loss of loved ones this year, we wanted to give a little bit back, so we've been out every morning training, running (and walking), along the beautiful tow path in Richmond, in preparation for our first 5K on June 4th. Nicky’s Story: On New Year’s Day, 2017, Nicky’s gorgeous godmum, Aunty Glor, sadly lost her battle with lung cancer. Her huge personality, sense of humour, kindness, love of her family and her ability to bring everyone together, will be remembered by everyone who was fortunate to have her in their lives. She really was a strong, fearless, stubborn, opinionated, sometimes hard, most hilarious, kind, generous, loving woman and lived her life to the fullest. Teena's Story: After a short but courageous battle with lung cancer, Teena’s gorgeous mum Janet, aged 68, passed away on the 8th of March, 2017. She was an amazing woman and wonderful mum. She was a warm, compassionate and vibrant woman who always went out of her way to help others. She was a proud and dignified and had a passion for life. She had a wonderful personality which endeared her to everyone she came in contact with and it is a great testament to her nature that she formed so many long lasting friendships over the years We’re not quite sure what either of these incredible women would make of us running but they’d probably say we are mad! When the race is done, we’ll raise a glass and have a huge cheers in their memory. We'd love it if you could support us and donate to this worthy cause...every penny counts! With love and thanks, Nicky, Teena & Winston
