Our social support network was crucial in helping us overcome the brain-scramble that happens as ‘those words’ are said. As survivors, what we realise is that, the brain-scramble doesn’t ever go away. It diminishes, but never quite leaves. Every two minutes, someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer. Cancer survival is improving and has doubled in the last 40 years in the UK. To help increase the survival rates, Cancer Research UK is doing its part. We didn't think it could happen to us, and we really hope it won't happen to you. Bolly Bunnies is 3 friends who want to do their part by raising money for Cancer Research UK. 2 out of 3 of us has had cancer, and we have been helped by the NHS, Christies, Macmillan nurses, East Cheshire Hospice and of course, in the background, making sure these people had the tools to help us, is Cancer Research UK. We predominantly want to run the Race for Life because we are all non-runners and we want to poke our tongues out at cancer and say, 'ha! we beat you, and we can beat our dislike of running to do so.' Because the run itself is challenging enough for us, we have set a very low fundraising target of £0, to take any undue pressure off.
