My friend Freya and I have decided to take part in this years, Bristol Race for Life - Pretty Muddy 5K on Saturday 29th June.. and I’ll tell you for why.. My Dad is currently receiving Chemotherapy after having a Thymoma tumour removed from his chest. When he first told me that he had a ‘lump’ in his chest, of course I instantly thought the worst. He then had it removed and tested, which is when he was told that he would need to complete 4 rounds of Chemotherapy as a precaution to clear up any remaining cancerous cells that were left behind. Fortunately my Dad has been very lucky so far and all of his other scans/tests have come back clear and they are positive that this will be all he needs. (Fingers crossed!) I know many people who have, in the past and are currently, dealing with the effects of cancer and the treatments needed for this awful disease, and not all of them have had an outcome as lucky as my Dad. Dad would of loved to have been there on the 29th to not only cheer us on and enjoy the day, but have been able to take part, but he will be in the hospital receiving his last round of Chemotherapy so unfortunately he cannot be there. So for Him, Me and everyone else and their families who have been effected, please donate to such a good cause! Whether you have 50p or £50.00 to donate, any amount will help towards Cancer Research UK and help many, many more people in the future.
