Story
Thanks for dropping by our Just Giving Page and hopefully we can convince you to donate a little money for Cancer Research in memory of our mum Barbara Parker. We're a motley crew of 20 or so aged 8-60 something years young. And we're under no illusion this race for life won't be a race for us! To Barbara we were daughters, sister, nieces and friends. To us she was a wonderfully considerate, fun loving and generous woman. To Jo and Ali she was mum and we were 'her girls'. Ok the grandchildren Alice and Jessica soon took over the mantle of being 'her girls' but she gave us everything. She brought us up, with dad, to be the women we are today and hopefully we represent her spirit in how we live. She is missed. Not just at family times and celebrations or holiday times but in the day to day - when there's news to share or a chat to be had, not being able to pick up the phone to mum is one of the hardest things to adjust to - I'm still working on it. Our family has had to reshape and sssh don't tell him, but we're so proud of dad and I know mum would be too. We've created a new unit shape and are making it work as best we can, as she would want us to - together. Losing someone close, too soon, really makes you realise how precious life is and nothing is promised. Seize the day. So on this day of Wednesday 23 May, you'll hear us meandering (not running) around Haigh Hall. Chatting about goodness knows what and no doubt reminiscing about mum and memories shared. It's too common a story and all those women in pink have their own reason for getting involved. So we know we're not taking on the toughest of challenges, but want to do our bit to fundraise and try to kick the arse of this disease, so no more mums, sisters, aunties or friends are lost. Any sponsorship for Cancer Research would be greatly appreciated - no matter how small. If you can give us a few quid to a super sum, we'll accept gladly and it will help on the hills that's for sure. Thank you x
