After losing a family friend and my great aunt to cancer in 2017 supporting such an amazing charity is so important and close to all our heart. In November 2017, one of our closest friend had the hardest news of having to explain to us that her mum had been diagnosed with breast cancer; the fear she had of the unknown and uncertainty, led us to want to expand our knowledge to help support our friend further. the importance of staying positive and having someone there whenever she needed was highlighted throughout her mum’s treatment, to be able to ask question; yes sometimes we couldn’t answer, but to also be able to rant cry or scream about how she was feeling and support her as much as we could so that she didn’t feel alone. Friendship was so important for all five of us, to stay together and to be there whenever. Following the news of her mum being diagnosed, she then had to explain to us all, that her brother had cancer and although very treatable, the stress of this on top of college work meant we had to play our part helping where we could. Amy’s strength strong-will and determination to not let cancer affect her any more than it had already was amazing, the courage she showed and effort she put in was truly remarkable, she always kept a smile on her face, kept up with her work and made us laugh even through the hard times. In April 2018 our dearest Emily told us that her mum had sadly been diagnosed with a brain tumour and breast cancer. This was heart-breaking and shocking news to find out, because anyone that knows Em’s mum knows that she doesn’t do being ill. It was hard to comprehend and to support due to the uncertainty, but we stick together, and we are going to fight until the end. So together we are doing the Muddy 5K Run, to support and help research to find more cures and to show our love for each other and how important our friendship was and still is through the hard times. We are running for all our loved ones who have suffered from cancer.
