Story
This year, me and my mum are doing Cancer Research's Race For Life on 21st July running 5k. Our family have always acknowledged cancer from afar knowing how devastating it can be but not being personally affected, unfortunately this year that changed. We are lucky that the cancer is treatable and currently in the process of trying new drugs and chemotherapy. Cancer completely tears people to pieces, whether it is treatable or not, hearing those words is a feeling I can imagine is indescribable and heartbreaking. All proceeds to Cancer Research are used to researching cancer, finding ways to beat cancer and keep Cancer Research going so they can continue their work. They have contributed to discovering many new and better ways to treat, diagnose and prevent cancer over the years. Everyone who knows me, although being a keen gym goer, knows me and cardio do not go well together. I think the last time I ran 5k I actually turned green... so this is a challenge for me! As for my mum she had a spinal operation two years ago to remove a tumor from her spinal column which was luckily benign, with obviously the expected weakness in her spine now I am extremely proud of her that she is running this 5k with me! We would really appreciate it if you could support us in fundraising money for a great cause! 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work.
