My Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. This March I’m walking 10,000 steps a day throughout the month to help beat cancer sooner. Help me Walk All Over Cancer and fund life-saving research by sponsoring me. You never think in a million years that you will know someone who has to deal with the devastating news of being told they have Cancer. Unfortunately, this year my brother-in-law has been diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma. (Sarcoma is a very uncommon, with an average of 670 diagnoses in the UK every year.) To say this news hit us for six wouldn't even cover it. You hear about the stories and try to understand what those people are going through but you can never truly relate, as you never think it would happen to you. Cancer can affect anyone of any age, at any time and we all need to do more to help towards the research in curing this disease. Spencer lives for football and currently plays for Hemel Hempstead football club. He is out-going, athletic, energetic, happy, a true joy to be around and loved by many. Spencer always has a positive outlook on life, even when he was told that he has Cancer. Ewing Sarcoma is a malignant tumour of connective or other non-epithelial tissue and is not as common as other Cancers. Ewing’s sarcoma makes up 14% of all bone sarcoma diagnoses. It most commonly affects teenagers and young adults with the pelvis, thigh bone and shin bone being the most commonly affected areas. Spencer's Ewing Sarcoma is in the shin bone. I am raising money for Cancer Research to help raise awareness of this uncommon type of cancer and help find a cure for this dreadful disease, in the hope that one day we can all say goodbye to Cancer! I will post daily updates of my daily steps and progress for you all to see! I will also be adding in the help of my beautiful pooch, Sandy, to help me reach my daily targets and will document this with photo evidence :)
