My Story

Cancer has affected my family in ways that are hard to put into words. It’s something we haven’t just heard about — it’s something we’ve lived through. My grandad battled cancer. My dad faced it too. My aunt fought it twice, and sadly lost her second battle. Each of these experiences has left a lasting mark on all of us. My dad, in particular, is a huge part of why I’m doing this. To me, he’s the prime example of how a man should be. No matter what was going on, he never missed a single one of my rugby games. Rain, cold, whatever it was — he was there. When I broke my ankle, he didn’t just sit on the sidelines. He took me to rehab, helped me through it, and made sure I got back on my feet. That’s just who he is — always there, always showing up, always putting others first. Seeing someone like that have to face cancer puts things into perspective. It’s not just about illness — it’s about the people it impacts, the families it changes, and the strength it demands. Christmas, a time that should be filled with joy, is especially difficult for my mum because of these losses. It’s a reminder of who isn’t there anymore, and everything our family has been through. This is why I’m raising money for cancer research. Every donation, no matter how small, helps fund life-saving research, better treatments, and hope for families like mine. I don’t want others to go through the same pain, the same losses, or the same fear. If you can support, thank you. If you can share, that means just as much. Together, we can make a difference.
