Young Arts Project

Tue 18 Dec 2018 - Sat 1 Jun 2019

I’m raising as much as I can with my team to beat cancer by fundraising for Cancer Research UK

My Story

We are a group of volunteers working on a new local art project to raise funds for Cancer Research UK for children in Kent. Young Art Kent is the first of its kind for the charity in the county and will encourage art in the community while raising much-needed funds for Cancer Research UK. We’re inviting primary school children from all over Kent to enter their artwork into a competition where their creations will be displayed at the Gulbenkian Theatre in Canterbury on 17th-19th May 2019. Our theme for entries is "Something you Love" so get creative!! All the children’s artwork will be judged by a panel of local artists with the winning 3 entries in two age categories receiving a special prize. The children and their families will be invited to a Launch night on Friday 17th May where they will proudly see their work displayed (not necessarily on the walls as this will be dependent on space). Selected artworks will be entered into a silent auction with winners announced on Sunday 19th May. Children can enter their artwork about ‘Something You Love’ for a small donation of £2. Family members can then buy the work for a minimum donation of £3. I want to get involved! Great! without your support vital research on cancer and progress in the fight against the disease wouldn't happen- THANK YOU To register your primary school: please drop us an email and we can send you ALL the details, including an assembly for yourselves (or for us to do!), registration forms, competition rules and much more. Email us at Youngartkent@gmail.com What can primary schools do? All we need from schools to get started is: · The art materials and lesson time for the children taking part at your school · To collate the donations from your pupils who take part and pay over to the charity using details that we will provide. · To send/drop off completed artwork to our Hub School (to soon be confirmed...) by 1st May 2019 Members of our group will be very happy to come to your school to do an assembly about Cancer Research UK and Young Art Kent. We can also provide an art lessons for the children too! In return, your pupils will be involved in a new and innovative community project while supporting a cause that resonates with so many. Entering the competition outside of school? No problem! For entries that are not submitted through your school, please contact the group and we will be more than happy to help you! Email: Youngartkent@gmail.com and we will be in touch!
