Young East Anglian Artists 2024

Fri 21 Jun 2024 - Sun 23 Jun 2024

Celebrating the artwork of East Anglia's young artists.

My Story

Woodbridge School Prep is thrilled to announce the launch of its third annual Young East Anglian Artist competition. This year the competition will inspire young minds from local primary schools to explore the theme of "Connections." Since its inception in 2022, this compelling initiative has not only been a celebration of artistic talent but also a dedicated advocate in supporting Cancer Research. Over the past two years, YEAA has grown into a community centred, philanthropic event, capturing the imaginations of over 30 local primary schools and engaging the artistic prowess of more than 3000 budding young artists. As we look ahead to 2024, Woodbridge School Prep is poised for an equally inspiring event, fostering creativity and raising funds for a cause that is unfortunately now so close to the hearts of many. The theme of "Connections" serves as a poignant reminder of the ties that bind us – the connections within our communities, families, and the shared humanity that unites us all. As we explore these intricate threads, we are reminded of our collective responsibility to support one another. YEAA not only celebrates creativity, but also champions the cause of Cancer Research, symbolizing our commitment to supporting those affected by cancer. The competition invites children ages 3 to 11 to channel their imaginative energies into creating artworks that explore and celebrate the myriad of connections that enrich our lives. The heart of the competition lies in the diverse and talented panel of judges – local, practicing artists who bring a wealth of experience and a discerning eye to the selection process. Selected artworks will have the honour of being showcased at the John Gibbins Gallery at the Longshed in Woodbridge. Each year, the colourful work transforms the space into a vibrant tapestry of youthful creativity. This public exhibition not only provides a platform for the young artists to shine, but also allows the broader community to witness the profound impact of art and the connections it can create. As Woodbridge School Prep invites local primary schools to come together in making this year's competition even more spectacular, we extend our gratitude to everyone who has been a part of this incredible journey so far. Together, we can inspire the next generation of artists and make a meaningful contribution to the fight against cancer. https://www.woodbridgeschool.org.uk/community/yeaa/
