Cancer is one of the most common causes of mortality. Some says it’s because we are living longer, some says it’s because of the food that we eat, while some believes it’s simply bad luck… But since cancer is a multifactorial disease, any of these reasons could be valid. (And there are more awaiting to be discovered and known!) Cancer affects not only the people who are having the disease but also those around them – their life partner, their children, their carer… I have personally seen, known and experienced how cancer can have impacts on a family be it physically, financially or psychologically. While there isn’t much that I can do at present time to help to cure cancer, I am hoping that one day, I can apply my knowledge in biomedical sciences into finding cures for cancers or creating a better life for people suffering from cancers. This year, I am taking part in the Great North Run for Cancer Research UK and I am hoping to raise as much money as possible as one of my first steps in fighting against cancers!
