My Story
I'm taking part in Cancer Research's 20km hike this year to help raise life-saving money. As many people who will likely visit this page will know, I lost my mum due to cancer when I was 16. She battled cancer for many years, took part in many drug trials, and did everything she could to stay alive. Unfortunately, she didn't win that battle. It's hard to describe what a person is like to someone who hasn't met them before, but I think a few things anyone who knew her would say are that she was strong, determined (possibly a bit stubborn at times ahah), funny and full of life. It's been extremely hard going through recent life stages without her being here, as she would never miss a family event; she would be the life of every party. No amount of money can bring her back, or make up for all the memories lost - but it might just save someone else's family member, and that's worth more than you think.

Cancer is complex. There are over 200 types of cancer, most of which have different biology and behaviour. With your support, our dedicated researchers can continue to discover better ways to prevent, detect and treat this disease, and bring about a world where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.
