Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money.

My Story

Hi readers, My name is Yagmur (Yamour) Yapici I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma with CNS involvement (BRAIN) (date commencing; 07/02/2016). I passed out that date and a MRI stated that I had a tumour in my brain and investigations began. It was confirmed that my Cancer was wide-spread, to nearly all parts of my body, this was my armpits, my cervical throax, bone marrow, spleen, right leg, brain, and other places. Now at 21 being told that I have 60-80% living chance was devastating, I had nowhere to go I looked for the best hospitals/doctors and found Dr McNamara at University college london who saved my life. The cancer research trials and the free medical care provided by NHS saved my life! Cancer is not easy because for years it has been associated with death. Living it at a young age is also traumatising because life stops for you, but everyone else continues. None understands what your going through, and everyone acts oblivious. However, NHS/volunteers/McMillan centre helps things make it easier and those important people who actually try and support you through each stage. I l know it sucks to be in that hospital bed thinking of the times your mind was at ease in this confused world. That means knowing you can eat/drink anything, go to the gym, go on holiday argue and not really think twice. But I've had to wake up and think three times about everything and I want to say; WAKE UP PEOPLE, if its me today tomorrow it may be? we don't know, but lets put all our powers together to help educate one another and take part in life saving fundraising events, because my life was saved. Support me and my team whilst we try and raise as much money as we can do!
