My Story

The FA and the Bobby Moore Fund are joining forces to tackle bowel cancer. Between 27th July and 10th August County FA's will be hosting Walking Football across the county to improve knowledge of bowel cancer prevention and raise money for the Bobby Moore Fund. Real progress has been made, with mortality rates falling by more than 30% since 1993. However, there is still plenty more to do. Every day, 44 people die from bowel cancer in the UK – that’s equivalent to four football teams and it remains the second most common cause of cancer death in the UK. With your support, we will continue to fund pioneering bowel cancer research.

CAUSE

Bobby Moore Fund

Bobby Moore was just 51 years old when he died. Shortly after his death in 1993, Bobby’s widow Stephanie Moore OBE set up the Bobby Moore Fund to raise money for pioneering bowel cancer research. Since the fund was set up , bowel cancer mortality rates have fallen by over 30%. However, with 46 people losing their life to the disease every day in the UK, we still have a long way to go.
