My Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. Firstly, to clear up any confusion, the above picture is NOT the Nirvana album and I am not naked. I’m going to be taking on the 12 Dips of Christmas Challenge this December to help raise money for Cancer Research UK. There are a few reasons I'm doing this. The main reason is my bloody brilliant sister! Sadly, Los, (Laura Matthews), my amazing sister, was diagnosed with breast cancer on 3rd November. We're all in shock and doing what we can to look after her. She is, thank goodness, an incredible woman, she's so strong and has an amazing network of family and friends who will support her through this. Thanks to CRUK and all the research that continues to be done we believe that this has been caught early, so are hopeful that after surgery and radiotherapy she will make a full recovery. Los has been so happy with the care she's been given so far and we're very aware of the amazing work that CRUK do. So, to celebrate Los and Cancer Research UK, I will be doing the obvious thing, that any brother would do in this situation, and I will be jumping into cold water 12 times over the next few weeks. It is simply the least I can do. I will be taking the plunge 12 times at The Lakes at Lavender Hall, (https://thelakesatlavenderhall.co.uk/) which is a beautiful wild swimming spot in Balsall Common in Warwickshire, and is somewhere I've recently fallen in love with. It's ace and I'd recommend anyone to visit! There are, I should add, saunas which make the experience slightly more manageable! Big love and thanks to all who have helped with this, especially the staff at The Lakes and my own special support team - Nicky, Barney and Annie! Los, you are welcome and I love you a lot. Please show your support and help fund life-saving cancer research by donating to my page.
