My Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. In June 2026, I’ll be taking on the Swim 20k in June Challenge to help raise money for Cancer Research UK. As many of you will know, I do swim a fair amount but, owing to competing priorities, I haven’t managed anything like that distance this year. Like many, I don’t have to look far for a reason to take part. My father died of lung cancer in Nov 2018. Research is the difference between what cancer was and what it can become: more treatable, more survivable, less final. I’m looking to complete the distance and contribute, in a very small way, to something that steadily improves outcomes for others. If that sounds worth supporting, any donation big or small – will be very gratefully received and help push that work a little further along. I will record my distance as I go and try to get some photos along the way ... If you'd like to join in and create a team do let me know.

Cancer is complex. There are over 200 types of cancer, most of which have different biology and behaviour. With your support, our dedicated researchers can continue to discover better ways to prevent, detect and treat this disease, and bring about a world where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.
