I work in Cancer Research UK's Centre for Drug Development. We are at the cutting edge of bringing new therapies to patients for the first time. We have developed over 100 new drugs to patients with several going on to be marketed, which have benefited cancer patients worldwide. We still need to do more though. Family such as my wife's mam and friends have either had and survived cancer in recent years or are living with it now and having treatment. Sadly, cancer touches us all but our understanding of the disease is improving rapidly, which means that we have more new drugs being developed that need to be tested.
