My Story
In May 2016, I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia, I was a month away from the big 50 and it was a big shock to me and the whole family. Fortunately, with the amazing care and treatment alongside the advances in medicine, Dasatinib, I was given a good prognosis and life was back on track. I even started work as a teacher's assistant again. As we came back from my eldest daughter's graduation in 2017 we were met by a letter for me to return after abnormal findings on a routine screening mammogram. I was diagnosed with 2 x grade 1 breast tumours. Since September 2017 I have had a grueling schedule of surgery and ongoing chemotherapy. Although I have radiotherapy to come I'm so excited about the future and can't think of a better way to give back to the community who are standing up to cancer with me. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. If you can relate to my story I would say to keep going, you're stronger than you think and if you can give anything to a great cause I would appreciate it with all my heart. Wendy x
