My Story

In dreams I talk to you mum In dreams I walk with you mum, In dreams you are mine mum all of the time. my mum sadly died 18 July 2018 age 92 from gall bladder cancer she died within 7 weeks she was loved deeply ,a good kind loving mum a heart of pure gold. my heart is broken and will never heal . I thank you for giving me the gift of life. My mum was born Mary Elizabeth WIlkes on 24 April 1926 at 87 Dearne Hall Road Low Barugh, her mum Louisa died on 15 January 1946 my mum married my dad Walter Townend 6 weeks later on 21 March 1946 at 11 am at Darton Parish Church..They had 2 daughters Wendy b 22/10/1948 and Elizabeth b 5/5/1951. mum and dad settled into married life but sadly my dad who was a miner came home from work at 2pm on Friday 13 September 1958 and at ? 6pm our lived changed forever, Sadly my dad had a stroke he was 37 years old mum was 32 years old Dad never went to work again and until the day he died he always wanted to go back to work. My mums life and ours was hard but mum loved and cared for my dad and both Liz and me, we had a loving home , food on the table, clean clothes and we were loved, we were very very poor. Christmas 1968 was the last we all spent together as a family dad was very very ill money was very very tight. Mum had both me and Liz a baby doll with knitted clothes , my aunt Pauline knitted them Liz ,a doll was knitted in orange mine in blue. My doll is an old lady now she is 51 years old and still has the same clothes on that my aunt knitted for her .I wash them twice a year with love and care. My mum had a very hard life when she was young I always knew her life was hard but it is only now that I am an old woman that I realise how hard it was. My mum married again she married 2 brothers , her 2nd husband died and she married his brother, There were no more children, my sister Elizabeth has 2 girls and 3 grand children. my mum lived to see them all grow up. I am married but sadly never had children, When I think of my mum I think of her as Mary Elizabeth Townend my dad was Walter Townend, not in the name she sadly died with. Sadly our lives go on our hearts forever broken never to heal, memories precious deep within our hearts One day we will all meet again Mum taught me so much love of outdoors and love of life. Until we meet again mum looking at the moon and seeing you sleep well mum sleep well love you xxx
