My Story
1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, I am 1 of 4 children and that statistic is frightening. . My brother was diagnosed with cancer in May 2021 and is now in remission having had surgery and radiotherapy. My sister had a diagnosis in July 2022 and is having treatment at the moment. So, I am walking to honour them, their strength and courage and if I can fundraise along the way then all the better. This will be my 3rd half marathon and my 6th in total for cancer research, I NEVER thought I'd be walking it with 2 of my siblings having been effected. It's an emotional journey competing in the Shine event, so many stories and memorials you read on the back of peoples t-shirts. When the marathon takes you past The Institute of Cancer Research, the Drs are outside clapping and shouting their support, it does bring a tear to your eye. The last full marathon I completed was 2 months after a car crash and I was strapped up in physio tape but I made it, 26.2 miles in 8 hrs 5 mins my personal best. This year, I will be competing having had the news on the 23 July about my sister, 24 July I registered and 25 July I started my training. Having had major surgery in February, I am really pushing myself to get fit and also to chase 13 miles in 4 hours. Every single pound donated makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s ground breaking work. Please make a donation to my Giving Page today and together lets try to help bring forward the day when a cure is found. I am a lady on a mission ...
