Each year we hear of a friend or family member who is fighting one of the numerous forms of cancer. It is important not to be complacent about supporting research and development in this area as a diagnosis, in many cases, comes out of the blue. Many lives are impacted as a result and support structures at home and in the community are substantive. I am walking in support of 2 friends on this journey whose lives have been disrupted over the past 2 years and also in recognition of the fabulous work happening in the many health establishments and research facilities across the country.
