My Story
Amanda & Friends SU2C Fundraiser About me: In 2019 my dad was diagnosed with testicular cancer, after not having any history of cancer in our family this was completely new to all of us. Everything happened quite quickly and after a surgery and a really mellow chemotherapy he was back on track. Even during chemo he would try his best to keep working and fighting. Then 2020 came, the big challenge. As if it wasn’t enough with a global pandemic going on we had some bad news during lockdown, the cancer had spread to a tumour on his back and had to act really fast to make sure all cancer cells would be erased. Everything happened so so fast. A very complicated robotic surgery followed by 8 weeks of chemotherapy. All this being conscious of how weak he was and how careful you had to be going to hospitals or doctors due to Covid-19. Recovery wouldn’t have been possible without my mum’s and my brother’s support and positivity. Being away from them was very frustrating but I have learnt so much of this situation, the good side about all this happening is the positive effect this had on my life. This is why with the help of my friends and family decided to start this fundraiser and see how far we can go! THE CHALLENGE: To kick things off, me and 7 friends are walking from London to Margate as our first challenge! we are goooooing doooown to Margate! We will be departing London on Friday to arrive in Margate on Sunday. Your donations will keep us going and the more we can raise together the more lives we can help Cancer Research UK save!
