2020 Brighton Marathon

I'm running to fight bile duct cancer

My Story

As many of you are aware, 2019 has been the year we lost one of the most important people in our lives to bile duct cancer. Bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma) is a rare but aggressive type of cancer, affecting around 1.5 people out of 100,000. The worst thing about it is that in most cases there are no signs of bile duct cancer until it reaches the later stages, when a cure is no longer possible. The fact that it is so uncommon makes it a difficult cancer to study, but researchers around the world are trying to find better ways of diagnosing this type of cancer at an earlier stage, when it can be treated with surgery. I'm running the Big Half and the Brighton Marathon to raise funds for Cancer Research, so that fewer and fewer families will have to experience this pain.
