My Story
Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life Pretty Muddy to raise money and save lives. My name is Evie and I'm 15. I was given my middle name, Alexandra after my great aunt who died a month before I was born. She was 46 and had cancer. Then, in August 2023 my mum was diagnosed with cancer just before her 40th birthday. She had a big operation to remove it but at the start of January they told her it was back. At the same time, my boyfriend, James who is also 15 was diagnosed with cancer just before Christmas and he is currently undergoing his treatment. We should have just been worrying about our GCSEs and what to wear for prom this year, but I guess our last year of high school will be a bit different for us! All I can do to help my mum and James, is just love and support them. And I do, with my whole self. But I can hopefully help anyone else who may find themselves in this situation in the future. In order to do this, I'm going to do the Pretty Muddy race for life with my mums best friend Kate, who is also doing the 10k run only hours before! If you can, please sponsor us. It was never really real and was always something sad which only happened to others, now it's become a real reality for us, for me, we're living it and trying to live our lives at the same time.
