Valerie-Elizabeth's Race for Life

For the 3rd successive year, I will be doing the Race For Life. After two years of travelling to Heaton Park in Manchester, this year will be in my hometown of Hartlepool. On the day I will be walking the course and absorbing the true atmosphere of why this event takes place and reading the messages of why each individual holds this charity close to their heart, and it will yet again make me shed a tear!! I will be jogging 5K in advance of the day as a personal challenge, and I am sure it will be with my current spinal situation, but I am one of the lucky ones! In February this year I was fast-tracked to see a specialist after finding tumours in my breast. Thankfully they were benign and subsequent measures taken to reduce the likeliness of my fibrous tissue developing into cancer in the future. My 29 year old cousin, however was not so lucky, being diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer just weeks before my scare. For my cousin and my friends currently putting up a great fight, for those who stand proud having beat this illness in some cases twice and those who I have lost to Cancer, I will do my best in my personal challenge of the 5K jog - I know the inspiration of my Nan will be with me, every step of the way, just like she was before Pancreatic Cancel cruelly stole her within 6 weeks of diagnosis back in 2010!!
