My Story
Ten years ago, I completed my first cancer charity night walk in London, and now, it's time to do it again! This year, I'll be walking the 10k #ShineNightWalk in Newcastle with friends and colleagues to support the life-saving work of Cancer Research UK. As a cancer researcher I am keen to contribute with both, our drug discovery work and through fundraising challenges. Why Newcastle? Earlier this year, I moved to the North of England, my new "scientific research home", where I lead cancer drug discovery projects with a fantastic and dedicated team as part of the Newcastle University Cancer Research UK Drug Discovery Group. Our multidisciplinary team of medicinal chemists, cancer biologists, pharmacologists, and structural biologists is dedicated to developing novel anticancer therapies that are more effective and have fewer side effects. Why Support Us? Our research is a crucial part of Cancer Research Horizons, CRUK’s new therapeutic innovation engine, and critically relies on the funding we receive from Cancer Research UK. We're committed to doing our part in the fight against cancer because it affects us all - 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every pound you donate helps accelerate our research into new therapies , especially for difficult to treat cancers. It also enables us to mentor and train the next generation of cancer researchers, ensuring the fight against cancer continues strong into the future. Make a Difference Today! Donate to my Giving Page and help us bring forward the day when we have therapies against all cancers. Every contribution, no matter how small, moves us closer to that goal. Thank you for your support!

CAUSE
Developing better treatments
From testing new therapies to finding better ways of using existing therapies, our clinical trials have helped improve cancer treatment. But these treatments don’t work for everyone and can have short- and long-term side effects. With your support, we can find kinder, more effective treatments so that people can live longer, better lives.
