I am hoping to raise money for cancer research. I am taking part in this year's Middlesbrough race for life on June 9th, I'm not only disabled but also unfit so this is a massive challenge for me to take on I have a month to get into some sort of shape to do this and help raise money for something that will and has effected many or all of our lives at some point. I lost my grandad and mother in law to cancer in 1993, my father in law in 2006, my step grandad in 2014, my daughter was born in 1998 she was diagnosed with inoperable brain tumour in 2000 she is still alive today because of the amazing work reasearch has done.

Cancer survival rates have doubled over the past 40 years. Consistent progress is being made but improvements to technology and ground-breaking work offer new opportunities to find different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve survival rates even further.
