My Story
Race for Life day is always an emotional day, reading everyones back signs, people they have lost, people who are fighting and even ones fighting this disease themselves. Us three girls, Tania, Karen and me started to do this in memory of our gran, a women who meant so much to us all as a family. A great mum, mum in law, sister, Auntie, gran and even great gran to my nephews (the boys) and star in the sky to Charlotte. Who could make a cheese and onion pie like no other, always had a tin full of blue ribbons waiting and always had a cuddle on hand. Never did I think, we would end up, years later with our mum and dad, grandma and grandad to Charlotte, on our backs as fighters and survivors. Then I met David, his family too full of fighters and survivors, Tommy, Carol and Susan. I watched a great friend, drinking partner and general partner in crime, Chris, get taken to this horrible disease as well. So Charlotte and I will continue to bug people for sponsorship for years to come until we beat this terrible disease. Its touched far too many of us and taken too many good people far too soon. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
