My Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. As you may know, I lost my lovely dad in October last year to Small Cell Lung Cancer. This has made me want to help raise funds for Lung Cancer research in any way I can. Hopefully, at some point in the future, nobody else will need to lose their loved ones to such a hideous, cruel disease. I'm far from fit but I'm going to swim the English Channel! Ok, not literally...I'll be doing this in the pools at Ashington and Blyth Leisure Centres but the distance will be the same. I'm going to swim 21 miles in 10 weeks. Might be simple for some but that will be quite an achievement for me. I know these are challenging times and money is tight. If you can spare anything at all it would be much appreciated. As an ex employee of Ashington Leisure Centre, my dad would have loved this!

CAUSE
Lung cancer
Each year more than 43,500 people are diagnosed with lung cancer in the UK. We urgently need to drive progress so that more people survive their disease. Cancer Research UK is at the forefront in lung cancer research and is funding various projects to tackle the disease head on. This includes the TRACERx study, Cancer Research UK’s largest investment into lung cancer to date. This study has already transformed our understanding of how lung cancer evolves and is continuing to shed light on how to prevent, detect and treat the disease.
