My Story
Cancer is happening right now, which is why we are raising money right now for Cancer Research UK. There’s no time to lose. When we entered this race in July, we were doing so in my mums memory. My dad was so proud. Little did I know that just 3 months later, this run would become about both Mum and Dad. My family has been ripped apart in the last 18 months due to cancer. Firstly, my dad was diagnosed with Mesothelioma in August 2016 and whist still in shock, Mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer just one month later. Mums battle was short and she passed away in December 2016. She was just 70. Whilst grieving for Mum, Dad had operations and successful chemo but sadly and shockingly passed away on 31st October 2017. He was 72 years old. We think he was supposed to stay by mums side forever. My family has lost so much in such a short period of time and I do not want to see others put through this pain. Melissa has supported me throughout and even agreed to run the race with me and I know she will get me to the finish line. This will the furthest that we have both ever run before. She is truely an amazing friend. This run will be a tribute to all those that we have loved and lost and all those that are fighting cancer today.
