My Story

I never imagined writing something like this, but cancer took both of my parents. My strong, celver dad was diagnosed with gallbladder cancer and died on 28th December 2018, just 12 months after his diagnosis. We lost our lovely, beautiful mum last year. She passed away on Christmas Day, only two weeks after being diagnosed with cancer of the liver, pancreas, bowel and brain. Two incredible parents, two utterly cruel outcomes and far too little time. The devastation of losing them is impossible to put into words. There isn’t a day that goes by when I don’t think about them. Anyone who knows me will also know this very important fact: I am not a runner. I hate running. Truly. I turn 40 this July, which apparently means I’ve reached the age where I sign up for charity runs I know I’ll complain about! So, whilst signing up for a 5k is very much outside my comfort zone.... cancer doesn’t care about comfort zones. I’m doing this in their memory, and in the hope that whatever I raise might help fund research, earlier diagnoses, better treatments and give other families more time than we were given.
