My Story

Yes, again. In 2024, my awesome colleague Francois and I did the "3000 push up challenge" and raised a substantial amount for cancer research. This time, the numbers are lower, only(?) 310, but the bar is higher, literally and metaphorically. When we kicked off that challenge I could actually do 10 push ups in a row, and by the time I had finished, I got to 45. Now - well, maybe I can get up to 2 or 3 pull ups. And I have to go to the local park to do em! There's been other changes since 2024 again - in that year I posted about my father in law being treated for cancer. He never made it to 2025, complications of skin cancer surgery along with the cancer in his blood robbed us of not only Mick, but shortly after, Amy's mother passed away too, Mick's cancer breaking her heart, and taking her as surely as it did him. Pauline, Amy's aunt, who featured in an update in 2024 is doing well - and is off her cancer treatment at the moment. Unfortunately my aunt Kathryn is battling a number of tumours, and receiving excellent care in France. But for the work of Cancer Research and similar organisations, these treatments would be much less effective. So please, donate what you can. Cancer takes no prisoners, and I am sure most of you reading this have had a relative of friend taken too soon. In memory of my mother, of Mick, of Liz, I'm going to do my utmost to smash 2024's amount (I'll let you know when we're close!). I promise there'll be pictures, there will be video, and I will be out there, rain or shine. No trip to Australia to attempt to derail us this year (2024's Qatar airport push ups a highlight) but I am sure it will be a challenge just the same.
