To improve my health, prove I am capable of abstinence and most importantly make my mum proud.
My Story
Dry January 2017 World Championship Final: Tom Duncan vs Tom Druncan (First to 0 pints) Venue: Everywhere but the pub. Synopsis: I have fully committed myself to a completely dry January. This will be 31 days of hell for me. I know this may sound absolutely ridiculous, but this really really won't be easy for me. Everything I do revolves around alcohol. My very active social life. Watching football. Travelling. Basically just being a northern male from a working class background. I want to prove to my doubters that I can be a true connoisseur of alcohol abstinence. I want to do this firstly for my own health. According to a drink calculator, I will apparently consume 24000 calories less in January than usual and save over £500. That aligned with all the other physical and mental aspects that are linked with alcohol consumption. I am writing this whilst clearly suffering from alcohol withdrawal symptoms. I don't want alcohol to become a problematic area in my life. The reason I chose to raise money for Breast Cancer is quite simple. Breast Cancer affected the person I love the most on this planet, and strangely not a Leeds United player, but my mother. Breast Cancer affected my mum both physically and mentally. I am forever thankful to the staff members at St James Hospital in Leeds who saved my mums life and now want to contribute to continue the forever adapting movement against cancer. Basically, I want to make my mum proud by proving I am capable of abstinence whilst raising money for a cause so close to our hearts. Breast Cancer is the most common type of cancer in the United Kingdom. I want to raise money to improve research into progression in this aspect of cancer. Progression which will hopefully one day lead to the end goal which is the eradication of Breast Cancer from our lives. That intertwined with my personal reasons constructed a decision and incentive to raise for this charity to be made with consummate ease. Please donate even if it's the smallest amount possible. To support me. To support Cancer Research UK to find new ways to diagnose and treat the disease. To support my mum. To support anyone you know who has been affected by cancer. Let's make a difference.

CAUSE
Breast cancer
With almost 140 women diagnosed every day, breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. And, although rarer, around 350 men are also diagnosed with breast cancer every year. The good news is more than two-thirds of women now survive 20 years or more. Help Cancer Research UK find new ways to diagnose and treat the disease.
