My Story
I sadly lost my friend Kerry to Breast cancer after a four-year battle in March this year. she was only 41 and left behind a beautiful little 7-year-old daughter. My friend Lisa Holmewood is also receiving "at-home hospice care" for Brain Cancer. She was diagnosed 18 months ago in her early 50s and has fought a hard battle. I had the pleasure of working with both ladies at Parchment Street dental in Winchester. I would never have believed this would have happened to them at such a young age. Both were healthy, strong women with a lot of life to live. I also have a very dear friend, Claudia Adams, who had a cancer scare in October 2021 after a routine mammogram. Precancerous cells were found and removed, with a course of radiotherapy. She had not previously had any symptoms and no lump. It's so important to do regular self-examination and go for Mammograms when called. Claudia has been amazing and so incredibly brave and views life completely differently now. You really are never too young and sadly it can happen to anyone. Cancer is happening right now, so I'm taking part in a Race for Life 10k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.
