South Essex Bark For Life

Sat 4 May 2019 - Sun 5 May 2019

My Story

About this event: The South Essex Bark For Life route is a varied route around Canvey Heights Country Park. It’s outstanding estuary views make it the perfect setting for a walk with your canine friends. The course is a mixture of paths, tracks and grass. It is mostly flat but there are some hills offering views of the Thames. The route is parkland with limited footpaths and so may not be suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs in some places. The event offers two routes, one approximately 5k and the other 10k both starting and finishing at the entrance to the park. This will be signposted on the day. There will be a shortcut at approximately 2/3k, if the shortcut is taken, it may mean missing out some of the obstacles. Canine obstacles will be placed at various places along the track and will vary in ability. Meeting Point The start and finish line will be located at the adjacent Smallgains Park, participants should meet in front of the stage. A registration tent will be available for those wishing to join on the day or for any questions. On the day: At Bark For Life, dogs and their owners pay an entry fee to take part in the sponsored dog walk around the beautiful Canvey Heights Country Park – other family members are also welcome, the more the merrier! Every registered participant who takes part will receive a medal, doggy bag and a certificate for their dog. On the day there will be: • Food and refreshments • Ice cream • Stalls • Face painting • Canine obstacles on the route (optional) Bark For Life is a chance to spend a few hours with family, friends and your beloved dog(s) in the great outdoors whilst raising those essential funds to help fund life saving research into all 200 types of cancer. Bark For Life honours the life-long support and love our canine friends provide. Get involved: Sign up now for just £5 per dog and join us on the day and together we will beat cancer!
