My Story
Cancer has brought too much sorrow to each family. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. The more understanding of cancer has developed, the more methods of prevention have been introduced, the more lives can be saved. In the 1970s just 1 in 4 cancer patients survived their disease for 10 years or more. Today 2 in 4 survive and UK scientists aim to achieve 3 in 4 patients surviving the disease by 2034. So George and I are taking part in the Race for Life Pretty Muddy (afterward George will play violin at Tesco - Blue Boar Lane) to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Cancer is complex. There are over 200 types of cancer, most of which have different biology and behaviour. With your support, our dedicated researchers can continue to discover better ways to prevent, detect and treat this disease, and bring about a world where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.
