My Story
Please support my Brighton Marathon 2020 journey for Cancer Research UK. I signed up to Brighton Marathon in April 2019 for a personal achievement challenge. This allowed me 1 year to train for the event, starting off on my first run I could barely run 5 miles due to drinking, partying and smoking regularly like the average 22 year old. With persistence in running regularly throughout the year I managed to complete a half marathon in November, I was well on the way for a straightforward journey to the marathon. Until in November shortly after the half marathon I found an unusually small lump on my left testicle. I got a doctors appointment the next day where I went for further tests and was told that I would need an operation to remove the testicle as it could be cancerous. After the operation (I am now referred to as one ball Tom) The testicle was sent for further examination which confirmed it was Testicular Cancer. A further CT scan confirmed it was stage 2 as it had spread to the lymph node which would mean I need 9 weeks intense chemotherapy to kill the cancer cells. Still determined to run the Brighton marathon 2020 I ran & am continuing to run after every chemotherapy session. Despite this being extremely tiring and a strain on my body it makes me feel better mentally and keeps me positive through treatment. I write this from the ward with 3 weeks chemotherapy to go, asking kindly for a small donation to help aid my target to raise money for Cancer Research for the Brighton Marathon in April. Together we will beat cancer! Thank you, Tom Donate to my page today and help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
