My Story
Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 10k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. As many of you will know this is an event that is really close to my heart. Not only is running my new love, but cancer is something that is affecting my family right now, so this seemed like the right time to take on the challenge! In January 2019, my wonderful mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since diagnosis, she has been incredibly brave, strong and positive and we couldn't be more proud of how she has coped with everything. My mum's cancer was picked up very early by a routine scan, so if this post does one thing, please please please make sure you attend scans and get yourself checked regularly!! My mum has had surgery to remove the tumour and is currently waiting to meet with her oncologist to discuss preventative medicine and her treatment going forward. My mum is incredibly lucky that her cancer has been caught early, but i'm acutely aware that not everyone is this lucky and this is why research into this terrible disease is so important! If you're still reading... I'd love for you to donate as much as you are able to do to Cancer Research! The more money we raise, the more research we can fund and the more lives we can save! I'm running this not only for my mum but for all my friends and especially my friends mums that have been affected by this horrible disease. Thank you for reading this far and thank you in advance for any donations! Love, Thoma xx
