The Two Jamies Go Walking & Talking
125 Mile Walk
Mon 24 Jun 2024 - Fri 28 Jun 2024
In memory of
Luke Hart
The ‘Two Jamies Go Walking & Talking’ was first conceived during the Covid pandemic when lockdowns, and other social distancing restrictions, meant that people could not get together to socialise and talk about life. The two Jamies spent hours walking, early in the mornings near their homes, and talking on the phone to each other. They decided a walking challenge, after the restrictions, would be a great way to catch up on things. On those early walks they discussed all manner of topics; their lives, family, friends, work, the Pharmaceutical Industry and politics to name just a few, as well as, of course, sport. One friend particularly featured in many of their discussions - their dear friend Luke Hart, who sadly passed away in January last year, following a near 5-year battle with cancer. In June this year the two Jamies are planning to walk a stretch of the South West Coastal Path between Falmouth and Salcombe, some 125 miles in just 5 days, and believe it fitting to do so in memory of Luke and importantly in support of his foundation. The Luke Hart Foundation has been set up by Luke’s family in his memory and works to provide fundraising and support for a number of charities. The two Jamies are pleased to announce that through their walk they are aiming to raise a considerable sum for Cancer Research UK. The walk will take place from Monday 24th to Friday 28th June with approx. 25 miles needing to be covered each day. Along the way they are expected to be joined by many friends and family of those who knew Luke and no doubt have a well-deserved pint at the end of each day, just as Luke would have liked. The week’s walk will finish with their arrival in Salcombe on Friday evening, a place that was very special to Luke and still provides many happy memories for his family. Please watch out for further information regarding the walk and where the Jamies will be. In the coming weeks, details will be posted of the route for each day and they look forward to people joining them on their challenge. Now, with the talking over, the walking can begin.
