The Every Mile Walk Take Two

Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. Who are we and what are we doing? I’m Ellie and my dad John and I are walking the 84 mile-long Hadrian’s Wall Path to raise money for Cancer Research UK. We will be walking it over a period of 8 days, starting on 1st October 2019. Why this? Some of my earliest memories are of going on walking adventures with my Dad. Looking at the pictures of a rosy cheeked, gap-toothed 6 year old on various mountains, I realised just how important those experiences were to me. I was fortunate and grateful that I could spend time with my Dad (my parents having split up when I was very young). As well as being valuable father/daughter time, walking gave me time and space to think. Woven through all those memories is my Dad’s good friend Charles. He was an avid walker and together he and my Dad walked many mountains, many paths and many miles. Sadly, Charles passed away from cancer in November 2018. It is in his memory that we are walking the Hadrian’s Wall Path. The Walk We will be starting at Bowness-on-Solway (usually where the walk ends) and walking east. 30 miles from the end, we will then travel to Wallsend and finish the walk by walking west for the final 30 miles. We will have a tracker on us and you will be able to keep up with our progress on the map. We will be defraying all of the costs ourselves. Cancer Research UK has no involvement in any of the costs. How you can help? We would be extremely grateful if you would consider helping us in our aim by donating whatever you feel able to this just cause. To this end, we have set this page up to make things as simple as possible. You can donate directly via the donate button on this page. We have not set a limit on the amount we want to raise, as every penny helps - no matter how much is raised. However, we have set an initial target of £2,000 though and hope to exceed this. And, you can carry on giving even after we have completed the walk as this page will be open for a while afterwards to enable people to give to such a worthy cause.
