My Story
Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 3k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. Joan and I wanted to be part of ‘Race for Life’ as it’s a way of supporting Cancer Research UK. It’s also a way of saying thank you from me personally, for the wonderful treatment that Joan is currently receiving at New Cross Hospital in the form of Immunotherapy. These wonderful new drugs which are becoming available are due to the hard work in Research and Development laboratories which need the funding to be able to continue their excellent work. We have lost a Brother to Cancer only 20 years of age, together with other family and friends and most recently our God-daughter. As we are now in our ‘wrinkly’ years, ours will not be a Race for Life but a slow walk with determination and pride, hoping to achieve our set goal.

Cancer is complex. There are over 200 types of cancer, most of which have different biology and behaviour. With your support, our dedicated researchers can continue to discover better ways to prevent, detect and treat this disease, and bring about a world where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.
