My Story
Thank you for visiting my Cancer Research UK Cycle 300 page. This September, before the end of the month, I will complete 300 miles on my bike for Cancer Research UK. Having not ridden my bike for the best part of 3-years this isn’t going to be a walk in the park either. I’m doing this as our family have had a number of victims to this awful disease over the years and very recently we had an incredible scare as one of my daughter’s best friends was initially diagnosed with bone cancer and was told that only 3 hospitals in the whole of the UK would be able to treat her. After a subsequent appointment, two weeks later, the initial diagnosis was fortunately proven to be incorrect and she does in fact have chronic osteomyelitis. Only then to be informed again that it is actually bone cancer 😫. The sheer shock of the initial diagnosis coupled with the sparse availability of hospitals capable of treating such a dreadful disease has led the wife and I to sign up to this challenge as we know that every penny makes a huge difference to vital cancer research.
