Daniels CRUK Race Night at KRFC

My Story

My Story Daniel wrote this story in Feb 23 and then updated in Nov 24. Unfortunately, Daniel’s Chemo treatment stopped working in March 25 and a different chemo regime failed to have much impact on his cancer progression. In May 25 Daniel was placed under the care of the Palliative Care Team from Birmingham Hospice. His Palliative Care Nurse Specialist was ‘an angel in disguise’ and she helped enable him and Abbie and their dog Arlo, to spend some precious time together and make new memories. Daniel died at Birmingham Hospice on 11th September 25, at the age of 27, surrounded by Abbie and his close family and friends. We will carryon fundraising for CRUK in Daniel’s name. Daniel wanted the money raised to help fund research, so that in the future people diagnosed with Stage 4 Bowel Cancer like him, might receive a more positive prognosis than he did. Thank you for visiting my Fundraising Page. The money I raise will help fund life-saving research and to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. I was diagnosed with bowel cancer aged 24, in November 2022, after having some symptoms for just two weeks. My diagnosis and prognosis have been a complete shock to me, my family and friends. I have really appreciated all the support and treatment that I have received from all the staff at the Cancer Centre, the Oncology Treatment Suite and the colorectal cancer services team at the Q.E.Hospital in Birmingham. As an F2 Junior Doctor I appreciate how important up-to-date research is in helping increase treatment options for people, like me, who are currently undergoing chemotherapy. I have chosen Cancer Research UK as the charity I would like to raise money for because the research they fund is crucial in the search for new treatment options, early diagnosis and hopefully cures for all cancers. A number of fundraising events are being organised by my family and friends in the upcoming months. Keynsham Hockey Club are starting off the fundraising by organising a quiz in early March where profits will go to Cancer Research UK. There will be other activities to take part in or you can just make a donation.
