My Story

For 31 days from the 13th of February 2021 I will be walking 10,000 steps a day to help raise money for Cancer Research UK in their event walk all over cancer. Last year we had no choice but to say goodbye to my Auntie after a hard well fought out battle with cancer, she was the strongest most selfless women I’ve ever met and she was still so young with so much more to give to the world and her family and friends. This is part of the reason why I am taking part in this event. I want to help raise money for this charity, so families don’t have to go through this. More money means more research which means more lives are saved. Cancer has torn through our family for many years and unfortunately it’s not done with us just yet. It has hit many of my family members in different ways. Some were given a fairer fight and they have managed to overcome the huge challenge and been given the opportunity to ring the bell of freedom with immense pride. Some weren’t able to beat the dreaded disease and after the hardest fight of their lives they weren’t able to come out on top and were so aggressively taken from us far too soon. Then there is my biggest inspiration a person that wakes up every single morning and faces with courage the challenge of living with this disease, knowing they’ve not got the chance to ring that bell of freedom is one of the hardest things to comprehend but without moaning about it they get up they brush themselves off and they attack the day. Seeing them accomplish everything they do while going through what they are means the world to me and my family. They’ve taught me that giving up is not an option, thrive for the future and take every opportunity you can because life is too short. I know the last 12 months have been difficult for so many but please could I ask for your support and donations where possible no matter how big or small. £1 may not seem a lot to many but if everyone donated as little as £1 that would be a lot of extra funding this charity needs to help us!
