Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. This January I’m taking on Dryathlon® and raising money for Cancer Research UK. I’ll be ditching the drink for one month to help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. Please dig deep and donate now. I have decided to go the whole of January without drinking- As many of you are aware Cancer is a malignant growth caused by an uncontrolled division of cells. In 2012 there were 161,823 deaths from cancer in the UK. 168.6 people per 100,000 of the population died from cancer in the UK in 2012 according to cancer research. Currently, 7.6 million people die from cancer worldwide every year, out of which, 4 million people die prematurely (aged 30 to 69 years). Members of my family have died because of Cancer and many of my family members also struggle with alcohol abuse, also so because of this, it is very close to the heart. Consistent progress is being made but improvements to technology and ground-breaking work offer new opportunities to find different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve survival rates even further.
