My Gran was diagnosed with cancer on her birthday, the 17th April 2015 and was told she would not make it to Christmas 2015 but continued to fight on until the 11th October 2016. She truly was the back bone of the family and brought cheer to everyone, I do not think someone will love me or support me as much as my gran did. She believed I could do anytning and I miss her every single day, she was much more than just a Gran or a Mother, she truly was a best friend. Cancer made her so weak but she still continued to put others before her, even making it to my prom when I could tell she was so ill. I think it always comes down to what you didn’t do, I was so young and tried to block out that the best person in my life was about to leave it. I always wish I had visited more, I was too scared to see how weak she had gotten. I have decided run this on my 18th in memory of my amazing gran with my mum. I wish she was here to celebrate with me but she lives on through memories always! All money I raise with cake sales/ outside donations will be donated to Cransley hospice who cared for my gran in her final days. The hospice went above and beyond to make it comfortable, even allowing my dog Ted to sit with my gran, unlike a hospital, anyone could sit with my gran at all times of the day and night. My Gran passed away due to lung cancer, which is the least funded cancer as many believe it is just down to smoking. However roughly 20% of deaths are not down to smoking! I want to raise awareness and make my Gran proud, thankyou!
