My Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. This March I’m walking 10,000 steps a day throughout the month to help beat cancer. Help me Walk All Over Cancer and fund life-saving research by making a donation to my page. I've decided to do 'Walk All Over Cancer' to raise awareness about one of the rare forms of Cancer; Salivary Gland Cancer. One of my closest friends Jade has been on a rollercoaster of a journey for the past few months, from being diagnosed with this form or cancer to being able to say she is cancer free. Jades journey started on 31.10.19, when she was 36 weeks pregnant, and was told that she would receive a letter regarding a finding from an MRI that she had. Then the beginning of November she gave birth to a beautiful healthy baby boy, and knew that although this was a joyful time that she would have to endure a painful few weeks. 27.11.19 Jade had a biopsy of the lump in her neck which followed to the 11.12.19 where she was given her diagnosis of Salivary Gland Cancer, and was told that she would need surgery to remove it. 30.12.19 Jade was then taken to theatre for a 6 hour surgery to remove her cancer. The operation was successful, and this was proven on 13.01.20 where she was given the results to acinic cell carcinoma (this is the name of the tumour she had). Throughout these 11 weeks, it has been an emotional and scary rollercoaster. However if the cancer wasnt caught so early on, this may have had a different ending. I'm proud to say that my best friend beat cancer, ans has come out the other end fighting fit! Please, if you find a lump, GET IT CHECKED. Do not put it off. If found early you could be a survivor too!!
